Delivery Technologies Program
Program Leader
Dr Michael Holland is the Director of the Centre for Early Human Development, Monash Institute of Medical Research at Monash University.
His research interests include:
- epigenetic regulation of key development genes in preimplantation embryos and in spermatogenesis.
- gene expression during activation of primordial follicles
- gene expression during initiation of development of spermatogonia
- molecular biology of gamete interaction
- molecular changes in the sperm surface during epidiymal maturation
- immunocontraceptive vaccines for the control of wild pest animal populations
Dr Holland has extensive experience and a particular interest in the strategic development of research programs especially those which link basic research and its application. He is an editor for Molecular Reproduction and Development and Reproduction and Small Ruminant Research. He regularly reviews manuscripts for leading journals in many areas of reproduction and has written a number of invited reviews, book chapters and numerous scientific publications in his areas of interest. He is a Visiting Scientist at Utah State University and the Australian National University.
Dr Holland is also Manager of the Dairy CRC's Education Program. He has a special interest in undergraduate, postgraduate and public education in gene technology and its interface with reproductive biology. He has supervised numerous postgraduate students.
