Enterprise - Business Studies, Work, Industry and Enterprise

This theme provides a starting point for students to investigate the dairy industry as an entrepreneurial enterprise. Some students may be interested in a work placement in the industry, and the information on this site provides them with a useful starting point and a broad perspective on the activities in the innovative parts of the industry.

Students can use the website as a case study to explore the ethical and social responsibilities of business entrepreneurship, and/or the influence of globalisation and global business on a local industry.

Students can explore and analyse the pressures and opportunities to change, and responses to change, in the Australian dairy industry.

Possible student research questions

  1. Why is the dairy industry an entrepreneurial enterprise? How is it changing?
  2. Why is the government supporting the dairy industry in the ways described on this website?
  3. Surely the dairy industry is local, not global, so why consider the impact of globalisation?
  4. Describe and explore the social responsibilities of the dairy industry to dairy farmers, to consumers and to the Australian community in general.
